Spring

I've lived in my current house for over 12 years, the longest I've ever lived in one place. By far. Shortly after we moved in we planted a tree in the backyard. I swear it was an apple tree (I have this thing for planting things that server multi-purposes: pretty + bears fruit) but to this day it has never produced fruit. Regardless of that it does produce some of the most striking blooms I've seen. And it's come to signal the start of spring for me. There is nothing like waking up one morning and seeing the tree full of blossoms. It just makes me happy :)

Perseverance

You can't tell from the photo, but this is one stubborn crocus.

If you look at the extreme right of the image, the grey there is the side of one of my raised garden beds. Where this flower is growing has bee tilled, raked, pruned and de-bulbed over the course of 3 years. The first two didn't have the raised beds so it was a regular 'grow in rows' veggie garden. Anytime a flower or weed grew I pulled it. And I was not gentle about it. Nor was I particular. If it wasn't in the row (or in the raised bed) it got yanked.

And yet… this little croci has managed, along with a couple other siblings, to come up this year.

Hence the name.

Baby Kitties

Hard to believe this was taken over 10 years ago.

Peaches
